Story Writing Basics: Unlock Your Child's Creativity
In this story writing course, students will first use brainstorming and story mapping techniques to develop a clear beginning, middle, and end, while also identifying the conflict and resolution. From there, they will learn how to introduce and describe their characters and setting in a way that enhances the story. As they progress, students will explore how to write realistic dialogue that brings their characters to life. Finally, they will apply strategies to edit and proofread their own work, ensuring they create a polished story they can be proud of.
All stories will be marked using the BC performance standards rubric.
Suitable for beginner writers who are already writing paragraphs and simple stories. These skills are typically at the grade 3-4 level.

Writing Mastery: Level 2 for Young Learners
In this story writing course, students will begin by brainstorming ideas and organizing them into a detailed story map that outlines the plot, characters, and setting. From there, they will develop a strong conflict and craft a realistic resolution. As they progress, students will learn how to use dialogue tags and explore different points of view, while incorporating richer descriptions into their settings and character development. Finally, they will master how to edit and proofread their stories, ensuring a polished final product.

Suitable for writers who are already writing organized stories. These skills are typically at the grade 5-7 level.
